When September Ends

I feel like this month can be summarized by the Green Day song, "Wake me up, when September ends..."
The month has been somewhat of a blur. The days have been slow, but the month itself has gone by quickly. I have spent a good deal of this month still feeling tired and nauseated but I think that those things are fading (however, every time I tell someone that, inevitably I get sick again...I am crossing my fingers this time.) It is finally time to wake up, rejoin the living and start feeling a little bit more like myself. Through all of the not so fun, there has still been fun. Lots of new changes are around the corner for our little family and we are so excited to get to them! Before October hits tomorrow, I thought that I would give a few updates...These are some photographs we took on our visit to the orchard by my parent's house. There isn't much of an autumn here, but the orchard made me feel like the seasons were officially changing...Sometimes I forget that in a few short months, my 2 loves will be 3...we feel so blessed.

Class Is In Session

Chloe's best friend is my little 5-year old sister, Naomi. They are only 21 months apart and up until this fall, they did practically everything together. A built in sister for each of them.
When August came, so did kindergarten for Naomi. Chloe was sad. Naomi was sad. I was sad...Chloe is just now getting over the fact that all of her friends that were in her nursery class at church last year moved up to Primary and she didn't (because she missed the deadline by 2 months), and now she was faced with not being old enough to go to kindergarten with Naomi. I knew that I needed to find something for her.
It wasn't until my neighbor and friend, Marleen, sent me an email telling me about her sister's preschool that I knew this could be what we were looking for. Her teacher used to work for the school district as an elementary school teacher and had decided to start a preschool. It has been AMAZING so far! This month, Chloe has learned all about the rain forest. She will randomly tell me tidbits about the animals who live there and what the rainforest looks like. Class is 2 days a week and so I spend the other 5 days of the week explaining to her why she doesn't have school those days. I am glad that she loves it so much...

This is the outfit Chloe picked out for herself for the first day of school...am I intruding on her individuality by making her change into something else??? She's cute either way.

True Boy

Cars.
It is in this little guy's blood. I think it must be genetic. Not from me or Jon, but from his Grandpa Brown.
One of my Dad's best friends from high school came into town a few weekends ago. His son races dragsters, sometimes at the Speedway.
My Dad asked Jon to go with him and Jon knew that Beckham would LOVE it and so he brought him along. I wasn't there, so all I have to go by is pictures, but I think that the pictures speak for themselves. He was in heaven.
If his current career choice as a garbage man doesn't pan out, he may just turn to racing.
Grandpa would be proud.

Beckham was a little bit panicked that Grandpa was going to hit the gas

Before Beckham goes to sleep, he lines up whatever cars and trucks he has handy. Hey...some kids snuggle stuffed animals at night, my son snuggles trucks.

My Father, The Hero

My Dad is amazing. Seriously. I mean, ask anyone who knows him or of him. They will back me up on this one.
When we were growing up, we used to call him MacGyver. He can fix anything and he can also make anything out of anything.
The man is a genius. Too bad for him. This has meant that he has spent his entire life fixing things that weren't even his...including for me.
At the beginning of this month, my car started making unfamiliar sounds. This is never good. He took a look at it and although he had never worked on this brand of car before, he pretty much knew what was wrong. He and Jon took the ENTIRE engine apart and over the course of a few days, proceeded to put the ENTIRE engine back together...with no manual. Nothing.
I love that Jon worked at his side during the process. I love that they get along and that Jon is learning so much from my Dad. Maybe one day Jon will be MacGyver and not MacGruber...
Maybe.
